Future travel

Steven hawking talked about an idea, an idea of future travel. His idea was that if a train could break the speed of sound it would be able to travel fast then time and would be able to travel 100's or thousands of years ahead, but this is just theory the way is to travel the speed of light. If this is accomplished the train is breaking the rules of physics, because nothing is faster than light, but because of physics this can never happen. the trains speed would just stay below the speed of light. now inside the the train there are passengers like in the video because everything outside is going really fast everything in side is slowing down. just to overt reaching the speed of light. They said even though this could be happen the funding and money needed would never get funding and the problem of the train is you would need to buy a new train every time becuase it can't come back.

In New Mexico N.A.S.A is working on commercialization for space flight. thats right they want to be able  to send citizens out into space. basically like a trip on a plane but in space. the cool thing about this is that it is here in New Mexico so for us its an easy travel to the spaceport. it costs 200,000,000 dollars to build this spaceport, witch in fact most of it is from the states pocket. the main man behind this project is Richard Branson. he plans in the future to build space resorts and land passengers on the moon.

Airplanes

Transportation in new mexico has greatly increased over the past years. we have gone from horses, cars trains, and other things, but now we writing about the planes of new mexico. Planes were a great addition to transportation but were not too sure about how to react to these flying objects. If i was one of the first to be introduced to planes, i would not know how to react. The first plane made did not look like the kind of thing you would want any family riding in.    These airplanes were not exactly built to hold too many people because they were very old and the technology used to build these was not very good.

Modern day airplanes are very well built and are even used to not only transport people but also to transport heavy military equipment. Airplanes now compared to airplanes back in the day are much better. The airplanes might not be good for the environment but are much safer for us while in the plane. I would not consider airplanes to be the most reliable form of transportation now because of the mistakes people make but there are many unmanned air crafts that are not made for transporting people, but they are very good.

Grades....

Hey guys, you really need to post your full blog so that I can at least give you credit for something...Considering your group blog is worth 50 of your 75 points for the assignment, it is imperative that you produce something. If nothing is posted beside a re-posted homework assignment, I have no choice but to give you all low grades. Even if the assignment is late, that is still much better than not completing it at all. ~ Ms. Schlabach

The history of planes in Albuquerque, New Mexico

Aviation in Albuquerque and in New Mexico was booming in the early 1900's. By 1913 some pilots were  using a simple landing strip at the end of the University of New Mexico. In 1928, two Santa Fe rail road employes  built a private airport in Albuquerque using equipment from the city and they made two run ways on  the east mesa four miles from downtown. In the ten years from 1920-1930 Albuquerque grew from 15,000 to 26,000 people. Some people saw Albuquerque as a cross roads location. The two competing  airports eventually join to make TWA the first national airline to fly out of New Mexico.  In 1955 TWA flight 260 became an historic  flight that crashed into the the Sandia Peak (the watermelon mountains). Later that year the city was talking about making a public airport with WPA money. The airport opens with two paved run ways and a pueblo style terminal building. In April 1941 a B-22 bomber lands on the strip. Today this is  known as Kirtland Airforce Base. In 1962 President John F. Kennedy  visits Sandia National labs for a weapons debriefing. In 1965 construction is completed on a building called  The Albuquerque International Sunport.

Motorcycles and New Mexico

In 1926 when Route 66 was produced as a stretch of highway from Chicago all the way to Los Angeles, California. Route 66 passed through Albuquerque. According to the Albuquerque transit history Route 66 made a big curve in New Mexico because it followed already existing roads. The route went through Santa Rosa after it came through Tucumcari and then went on to Santa Fe. The Old 66 used to go down Fourth Street and then to Gallup and for the next 880 miles to Los Angeles. In 1937 the curve was redrawn and Central became the new 66 and it was paved!

Motorcycles have always been part of the Route 66 culture and the New Mexico culture. The weather is beautiful and the scenery is even more spectacular. The Harley Davidson is probably the most popular motorcycle in New Mexico and has a long history. Howard Roper who lived from 1823 to 1896 invented a motorcycle powered by coal that was the first two-cycle steam engine motorcycle (Subaru-Official website).

In 1885 a German named Gottlieb invented was a wooden frame attached to a gas engine. The engine that Daimler used was invented by Nicolaus Otto who built the first four-stroke internal combustion engine (Subaru-Official website). After these inventers went on to invent cars two brothers and William Harley developed the motorcycle. The brothers were named Davidson and their company became Harley Davidson. The motorcycle had a quality engine and was used for racing but was also manufactured as a transport motorcycle. As a result the first official Harley-Davidson dealership opened in Chicago. These machines that could travel at 58 miles per hour rapidly moved west. The Harley Davidson was used for World War I and even was bought by Poncho Villa and his fighters and shipped to Mexico for the Revolution. The Harley-Davidson survived the Great Depression and moved on to World War II (Harley-Davidson History). New Mexico has always been a part of the War Movements with Los Alamos Labs and the development of the atomic bomb, Sandia Labs, and the testing facility for the atomic bomb. The Harley-Davidson has grown side by side with New Mexico and its people.

highway in NewMexico

Santa Fe Trail

Highway in NewMexico have a long history, especially the Santa Fe Trail. The Trail way was the one of the most important highway in New Mexico. It became America's first great international commercial highway in 1821, and for nearly sixty years after, the Santa Fe Trail became one of the nation's great routes of adventure and western expansion. It was an ancient passageway used by merchant-traders who took manufactured goods to Santa Fe in exchange for furs and other items available in Santa Fe. Also the Mexican traders provided caravans to go to western Missouri in this international trade.

Basically there are two kinds of route on the Santa Fe Trail. The first route is the Mountain Route. The mountain route(long route) of the Santa Fe was 230 miles of unprotected campsites between Fort Larned and Fort Lyon in Colorado. It followed the Arkansas River into Colorado before turning south. The second route is the Jornada Route. The Jornada Route is very dry and has less water.(desert route). It stretchs cuts southwest at Cimarron Crossing and other Arkansas River crossings. This route saved ten days and would carry75% of all future trade. And lots of traders went and back to used this route for trading their goods.

In 1821, William Becknell, the trader who came from Missouri, first to follow the route that later became known as the Santa Fe Trail. He used his mule train to pass through Morris County, later became known as Council Grove. The Santa Fe Trail was established to transport freight from Kansas City to Santa Fe, New Mexico and to trade with the spanish. Also in 1822, William Becknell found a good mode of transportation and a passable wagon route. So he started using wagons for take trade goods over the Santa Fe Trail, instead of mule train or horses. and when the time past. People start to call him as the Father of the Santa Fe Trail.

The Santa Fe Trail start heavily used when the Mexican War begin. Because of the large military supplies. it was transported from the Missouri River Towns to the Southwest. Santa Fe Trail was the main transportation route until 1872. When the Santa Fe Railroad became the Colorado border, the days of the Santa Fe Trail as a main transportation route were over.

New Mexico Rail Ways

In the 1850’s a rail road was introduced to New Mexico, and it would change the coerce of history, however it was still under construction, and it was at risk of being deconstructed do to financial problems. However the rail road did make it to New Mexico and it was originally built to replace the long and dangerous walk of the Santa Fe Trail but it was primarily used for industry use, such as the transportation of coal and lumber. Because of this rail rode the population of New Mexico grew vastly along it, and with the population industry also grew. The production of products like coal, lumber and cattle was off the charts, and because New Mexico was making so much money it needed a place to put it. The number of banks grew from two to more than fifty. People say when new things are born the old things pass away and that was what happened to the Santa Fe Trail. Because of the rail way the long and dangerous walk of the Santa Fe Trail was simply unnecessary and out dated. The rail road was one of the best things to happen to New Mexico and the majority of its rail way’s still exist today.

Transportation in New Mexico

Transportation in New Mexico
Transportation was a very important thing in New Mexico especially when the Spanish introduced horses to the Indians. When Coronado and De Soto came to America in 1540 they brought with them horses. Native Americans learned everything they needed to know about horses by working for the Spanish and working the ranches. For some time it was illegal for Native Americans to own a gun or horses. In 1680 when the pueblo Indians revolted the horses were left with the Indians, but they didn't know what to call them so they named them sacred dogs, because they looked like bigger and stronger dogs. The pueblo Indians sold and traded these "sacred dogs" with other Indians and by the time the Spanish came back many Indians had already learned to use these 'sacred dogs". Before the horse, Indians would use dogs that would carry travois, (a mode of transportation) when the horses were used by Indians, they replaced the dogs with horses and made them carry the travois. Horses were a very big improvement of transportation in America and made things easier for Native Americans.

Transportation in New Mexico Before the Horse

Before the introduction of the horse to North America the Native Americans used a form of transportation called walking and running. Running was perfected as an important part of the culture, a system for communication, a means of gallop hunting, and as sports and play.
The Tarahumara or the Indians of Barranca de Cobre, the Copper Canyon, inthe Chihuahua state of northern Mexico are proof that humans have the potential and ability to use their own bodies for transportation.  The word “Raramuri” means “runners on foot” or “those who run fast” (www.britannica.com).  The Tarahumara have developed a cultural tradition of long-distance running.  They can run up to 200 miles and can run the distance of 435 miles, the distance from New York to Cleveland in 48 hours or two days.  The Tarahumara are a modern day proof that Native Americans have the athletic ability to create a form of transportation that was superior and perfect to their culture and existence.
The Anasazi of the Ancient Colorado Plateau also used running as a form of transportation.  They used long distance running as the same reasons as the Tarahumara. It was for communication, culture, hunting, and for athletic play and competition. Even the diet of corn for carbohydrates to sustain this type of transportation can be proved by looking at the diet of the Tarahumara. They drink a type of corn beer that is super high in carbohydrates but very low in alcohol content. The man carbohydrate in the diet of the Anasazi was corn and they could have also made this type of beverage for running. Hunting was also the same. The runner was able to get the animal to a gallop for a long distance.  Then the animal gets tired and because it can not pant can not cool its self and gets tired, but the runner is able to out run the animal and then can kill the animal for food.

Transportation before the horse was human transportation, but a super athlete human that was capable of running long distances in bare feet or primitive sandals.
